A Beginner's Guide to EXO

 Hi there! Have you just become a member of EXO L? Feel left out because you don't know anything? I've got your back! I've written all you need to know, right from the very basics! Come on, jump into the world of EXO!
(If you don't understand the meaning of the bolded words, a glossary is added to the bottom.)

EXO

EXO is a band from S.M. Entertainment that debuted on 2012. EXO is divided into 2 sub-groups, EXO M (Which stands for EXO Mandarin) sing in Chinese while EXO K (Which stands for EXO Korean) sing in Korean. They originally have 12 members, 6 in each sub-group, but sadly 3 members from EXO M, Tao, Kris and Luhan, left due to concern about health, career and lawsuits. Their first song or their debut song is 'MAMA'. One of their most famous songs is 'Growl'.

EXO K

EXO K is one of the two subgroups in EXO. It stands for EXO Korean, which obviously means they sing in Korean. They currently have 6 members, Suho(Jun Myeon) , Sehun, Baekhyun, D.O. (Kyung Soo), Kai (Jong In) and Chanyeol.

Suho is the current leader of EXO K, but since Kris left, he basically is leading the whole of EXO. He might be known more as a rich kid. A way to remember him is that he is rich, so I like remembering him as $uho.

Sehun is the maknae of the whole EXO. He has a pointed chin, cat eyes, very tall and seems to always be frowny. He's cute because he always prays for each EXO member every night.

Baekhyun is one of the EXO members with an amazing voice. He has dog eyes and hair that looks 'big'. He is sometimes compared to a puppy, which I think will suit him well.

D.O. is one of the main vocalists in EXO. He is recognisable by his eyes, which have tons of eye white, and his heart-shaped mouth.

Kai is the main dancer in EXO. He is a good dancer and sometimes said to be the best dancer in Korea. Apart from being a good dancer, he is also the bomb at video games.

Chanyeol is one of the tallest EXO members. He is usually recognisable by his ears, which is said to look like a fairy. He is usually said to be infected by the happy virus.

EXO M

EXO M is one of the sub-groups of EXO. It stands for EXO Mandarin, meaning they sing in Mandarin. They have the ability to speak Korean and Mandarin. They had 6 members, but they now currently only have 3 members after 3 others left the group, forcing them to join EXO K. They hav 4 Chinese members, which are Kris, Luhan, Tao and Lay (Yi Xing), and 2 Korean members, Xiumin (Minseok) and Chen. The members that left the group are Kris, Luhan and Tao.

Kris was the former leader of EXO M. He left the band due to health concerns and a lawsuit on 2014. He is recognisable by his straight, diagonally pointed eyebrows. He is also known for the line 'Chicken ne style aneyo' which means 'Chicken's not my style'.

Luhan is one of the older members of EXO. He is sometimes compared to a deer, which I am confused about, since he doesn't resemble one to me. He left EXO due to the same reasons as Kris on 2014.

Tao was the maknae of EXO M. He left on 2015 after his father posting a letter about his concern for his son, as he sustained several injuries that had not been treated properly. He is recognisable by his dark under eyebags and sometimes referred to as the green and black monster from Dragon Ball Z because he is the 2nd darkest skinned member. He can do wushu but lacks in Korean skills.

Lay is the cook of EXO M and is the main dancer with mad dancing skills.

Xiumin is the oldest out of EXO and is recognisable by his chubby cheeks but has the strongest hands, proved by the hand wrestling match in EXO Showtime.

Chen is one of the lead vocals. He has an amazing voice but has no skills in dancing. One fan once called him 'Chenshing Machine' (From dancing machine) even though he can't dance. The others used this to tease him ever since.

EXO L

This might surprise you, because I stated that there were only 2 subgroups, but EXO L is not a subgroup. EXO L is their fanbase. The name 'EXO L' means 'EXO Love'. The reason they chose the letter 'L' particularly because the letter 'L' is in the middle of K and M in the alphabet. Now, you may be asking: "Am I in EXO L?" The answer is: Follow this checklist, and see if you fit the description:

CHECKLIST FOR EVERY EXO L MEMBER:

-A bias a.k.a a favourite person from EXO or another group

-The EXO app (To get a identification card as a member of EXO L)

-Basic knowledge of EXO

-Keeping up with the latest news

-Watched at least one episode/livestream that relates to EXO (Running man, EXO's Showtime)

Try to do everything in that checklist and.. BAM! You're a member of EXO L! Congratulations! Now, you have an identification card from the app, a bias, the latest news, and some fun from the shows! But one thing to remember is: NEVER BECOME A SASAENG FAN! They are one of the most horrid members of EXO L. They basically stalk EXO and try to put down other bands to make EXO no. 1. NEVER DO THAT! We, as EXO L, must show respect towards one another and give EXO a simple life that's not to hard.

Glossary:

Debut- The time when a band first starts. A debut song is the band's 1st song.

Cat Eyes- Eyes that's tail point up

Dog Eyes- Eyes that's tail points down

Happy Virus- Often said to people in Korea if they are always happy

Maknae- Youngest in a group of people
